Reducing Emissions and Honouring the Green Deal: A Transport Company's Journey Towards Sustainable Fuels

As awareness grows surrounding the climate crisis, companies across industries are looking for ways to honour the Green Deal by reducing their environmental impact, and Jumbo Logistics aims to do its part. In the transport sector, transitioning to more sustainable fuels is key to lowering carbon emissions and building a greener future.

Jumbo Logistics has recently made the major decision to switch our 50-truck fleet to hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) fuel, which will decrease emissions by up to 90%. While this transition is not without its fair share of challenges, the environmental and social benefits make the effort worthwhile in the long run.

What is HVO?

HVO stands for Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil, commonly known as renewable diesel. It is produced by hydrogenating oils mainly from waste and residual materials, such as used cooking oil. The result is a highquality, low-emission diesel fuel.

Partnering for Sustainability

Our customers are looking for ways to reduce their supply chain emissions as part of their overall carbon strategies. Therefore, switching our fleet to renewable HVO fuel enables our customers to make immediate emission savings. To demonstrate the positive impact, we will offer detailed carbon reporting at the shipment level in the future. This will not only validate our emission data but will also support sustainability initiatives like science-based Targets and carbon neutrality programmes
